Application of Hose Pumps in Food Processing Plants

During food processing, various media such as fruit juice, jam, syrup, dairy products, yeast, seasonings, and food products containing particles or with high viscosity need to be transported reliably and consistently. At the same time, food production has strict requirements for hygiene, safety, and product integrity. Hose pumps operate on a squeezing principle, with the food product primarily coming into contact with the inner surface of the hose. This helps reduce direct contact between the medium and the pump’s moving components, making hose pumps suitable for food processing applications where hygiene and product protection are critical.

In food processing plants, hose pumps can be used for transferring fruit juice and concentrates, jams and sauces, dairy products, syrups and honey, beer yeast, as well as food products containing fruit pieces, solid particles, or high-viscosity materials. They can also be used for the precise dosing of additives, flavorings, and colorants during production, as well as feeding filling equipment.

Typical Applications:

  • Transfer of fruit juice, fruit pulp, and concentrates

  • Transfer of jams, tomato sauce, and various seasoning sauces

  • Transfer of milk, cream, and other dairy products

  • Transfer of syrup, honey, and high-viscosity food products

  • Transfer of beer yeast and yeast suspensions

  • Transfer of food slurries containing fruit pieces or solid particles

  • Precise dosing of flavorings, colorants, and food additives

  • Feeding of filling equipment

  • Material transfer during filtration and food production processes
